I studied AI in the late 1990s, long before generative models changed what the field looked like. Focusing on neural networks and rule-based systems, sponsored by GEC Plessey Telecommunications, I gained early hands-on experience in enterprise software and databases. Then I left the field, moved to Singapore, and spent two decades in education, training, and programme operations.

Those two decades away from the field turned out to be the most relevant experience I have.

Twenty years embedded in human workflows gave me something a technical background alone doesn't: a grounded sense of where systems succeed and where they quietly fail. I also designed and ran the internal systems for my own businesses during that period, CRM tools, scheduling, sales pipelines, not as an IT project but as the person who needed them to work.

In 2023, I began a focused phase of experimentation with generative AI tools, testing them against real work rather than novelty use cases. In October 2024, I founded Kerson AI Solutions to focus that work: applied generative AI, automation, and AI literacy for organisations that want to move beyond experimentation.

I also work with Straits Interactive as an Associate, contributing to and learning from real-world implementations of AI governance and data protection frameworks. This exposure grounds my work in how AI is actually deployed within organisations, not just how it is discussed.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering Management and an Advanced Certificate in Generative AI Applications, and continue to develop my practice through programmes in AI governance and leadership.

The clients I work best with are SMEs and small teams who are smart about their domain and uncertain about the technology. That's the best possible starting point.
